The Weekends & Day 1 in school

11th July 08, Friday:
Dinner on Friday night was a simple home cooked meal. I did the soup with the help of carrots, onions, potatoes and ikan bilis (brought from home by Wendy’s mum). The dish was by Wendy, stir fried beef and french beans. Ying, your buddy is not a bad cook. Please give her credit for being away alone for 7 years *wink* Edina is back from Toowoomba. So this marks our first meal together at home. No happenings at night as the 2 girls have to work on a Saturday.

12th July 08, Saturday:
I got up rather late on Saturday to see Edina still in bed. That girl was supposed to hitch a ride from Wendy in the morning to the office. Guess she must be exhausted from the trip to Toowoomba. It wasn’t long before she finally got up and went to work. Met Edina around 5pm in the city to catch a bus to Wendy’s work place. To all at home, please be thankful for the SBSs and SMRTs we have. We are just so fortunate!

Dinner was at Jaz Bar which is just behind the pharmacy that Wendy’s working in. Nice place with live music on Saturdays, food is served on the hot stone, which means we decide how well we want our food to be done. Unfortunately we didn’t enjoy much of the music as we were heading for a show. My first movie in the land Down Under – Mama Mia. Many of you are enjoying watching “Ci Bi”, yes I’m jealous coz I’ve been wanting to watch that show, which I know is very unlikely to be screened here. Just do your job by getting me the VCD once it’s out!

I’ve been to the stage version of Mama Mia, but believe me, the movie is many times better. George Clooney has always been my number 1 charming mature man. Now Pierce Brosnan has become my number 2. He was just so wonderful in the movie, far out from the normal cool guy that he’s always been. Catch the movie; you’ll definitely not regret it. Meryl Streep is a great singer! It struck a chord in me in her rendition of “The winner takes it all”. I tried so hard to hold back my tears. She was splendid!

By the way, I did laundry for the first time in my entire life. So people, it goes to show that the princess can be a good housewife too!

13th July 08, Sunday:
Happy Birthday ZJ dearie!

Yes dearies, you gals made me jealous with the pictures of the “Infamous Tofu Cheesecake”. Evil BL! But being the magnanimous me, I’ll forgive you and still love you all the same... =P

It’s a lazy Sunday. We didn’t get out of the house till about 12.30pm. It’s considered late here since the shops all close by 6pm. The girls took me to Harbour Town which is about 45mins to an hour’s drive from Brisbane. It’s where the factory outlets are. A great place to shop in with many wonderful buys. Unfortunately I’m tightening my belt till I get my ATM and debit card. It’s so uneconomical to shop with my Singapore credit card. Will definitely go back there and I’ll make it a point to wake up early to go. You need a full day to totally cover the place.

These lovely ladies brought me to a lovely place for dinner. It’s at Hope Island. Oops! The forgetful me forgot the name of the restaurant. Hehe... But you’ll hear about it very soon coz I’ve decided to bring Dad and Mum there when they’re here. Was home by 10pm as it’s going to be an early day for us, except for Wendy.

14th July 08, Monday:
First day of orientation and the gals were so afraid that I may not find my way. It was rather easy with just 2 bus transfers. Haven’t met anyone new yet though I spoke to a couple of Singaporean girls. The people seem too young for my liking. I’ll just take my time and only really mingle with like minded people. Shucks! Is this what they call “quarter life crisis”? You just simply can’t be bothered with people who are too young and have no common topic.

Have taken some pictures of the University. It’s so different from the ones we have back home. Hopefully I’ll get better grades in such environment. I must say that I really like the weather here. And if you think that it’s very cold here, it’s not like winter elsewhere. It’s just nice for my liking!
