School starts tomorrow!

Nothing spectacularly interesting happened in Orientation week except for Thursday's School of Tourism Familiarisation Day. It was a half day session which ended with an Australian barbecue lunch, where I got to meet people from my faculty. It's a good chance to mingle with like-minded people, especially so when we are in an industry where networking is our priority. Kind of disappointed though, as the people taking postgraduate courses seem to be a little younger than I expected. I had the impression that I'd meet people with substantial working experience that I can learn from. However, they seem to be newly grads. Oh well, I'd just have to pay more attention in class and ask the lecturers when in doubt.

Yesterday was exceptionally fun preparing for Edina's company ball. I put my make-up skills to use by doing her make-up. At least I know I didn't waste my money by taking the make-up course years ago. It feels really good to doll someone up. Hee.. Just like my plans years ago, it's going to be my retirement job in my "tai tai" life. Wendy and I joined her at the after party and I too did some light make-up for Wendy. Unfortunately the after party was condoned to stuff only. It should be the way to prevent people from getting free drinks. So we decided to get our own drinks which ended up to be free as the bartender took too long to prepare them. It was fun hanging out with the girls though the nightlife here is nothing compared to back home. Noteworthy is that their buses run through the night. People really go all out to drink here and so they don't drive.

Today Wendy brought me to Ikea to shop for my furniture and other household stuff. Didn't buy anything as I'll be having my things delivered to my place and therefore, I can only purchase my stuff 2 days before delivery. So I'll be going back again probably on Thursday. Ikea is really big here, very much bigger than the one back home.

By the way, I'm broke. Yes I have no more money with me. My ATM card has yet been sent to me though the bank stupidly sent me my debit card already. Though I have my debit card, it can't be used till it's activated which I presume will take another week as I had to send the reply to Sydney. Stupid stupid! I miss my banks at home. Oh and to make my experience with the banks here worse, the credit limit for my debit card is only AU$500! Thank God for Wendy! So now she's my official shelter provider, transport provider to inaccessible places and financial provider! Hehe.. Thank you Wendy darling!

Oh ya! If I'm not wrong, today's the SHAPE run back home. Great job to my 3 dearest primary school buddies who took part in the run (especially "sweetheart")!
