My little darling is officially 16 months old today. And that cheeky little rascal gave us the shock of our lives today. He actually locked himself in the room. I was happily sleeping in at 10am when I was suddenly woken by Mum’s screaming. “Don’t disturb! Why you go and lock the room door?! Xiao Jie’s inside the room!” (In case everyone’s wondering, Mum was shouting at Josiah. That poor boy was blamed for locking the door as it didn’t occur to anyone in midst of panic, that the stupid lock can only be locked when someone is inside. Well, luckily I was home.) My first thought was how could the little one be locked in the room without anyone inside since our room doors are the turn knob locks and not the push button kind. I thought I was rather calm even when I realise that no one could find the room key. Got the tools out and wanted to unscrew the lock. Ok I’m no locksmith and my house’s so fully guarded that no simple tools can break the lock. Just as I felt like calling the expert, Dad came back unexpectedly.
And so here goes the drama ~ Dad gets the ladder, climbs up the car porch roof, breaks the window and climbs in to Xiao Jie. While I stayed at the door, tried my very best to distract the little one to stay near the door so as not to be hit by the shattered window glass. The baby was crying frantically when he finally sees all of us. No hugs and cuddles were enough. What amazed me most was the sudden stop in his cries when he saw Snoopy. See what my bao bao can do to my little one. The moment Xiao Jie sees Snoopy, he seemed to forget his scare instantaneously and played with him.
Moral of the story: “Don’t have too good locks at home, or you’ll end up breaking the window glass.” Duh…
